What Canadian institutions look for

General guidance exact requirements vary by institution and programme level.

Academic transcripts

WAEC/WASSCE results (undergraduate) or a completed degree with transcripts (postgraduate), with a minimum GPA that varies by institution.

English proficiency

IELTS (typically 6.0–6.5+) or an equivalent accepted test, unless your prior education was fully in English.

Proof of funds

Evidence you can cover tuition and living costs a GIC, bank statement, or approved sponsorship, formatted to IRCC's specific standard.

Statement of Purpose

A clear, honest explanation of your study plan and intent to return or transition status post graduation this is the section visa officers scrutinize most closely.

Letter of acceptance
